A frustrated female carpenter named Geppetto works every day of her life in a world of men who despise her. One evening, a pontificating velvet-clad musician appears before her strumming his guitar. That night, inspired, she makes a paintbrush with her hair and paints her whole body with woodgrain. As Geppetto the brush adheres seamlessly to her nose, she is suddenly transformed into Pinocchio! Destructive and impulsive, Pinocchio goes out to frolic, terrorizing the villagers until they capture her. Awakened in jail by the mysterious musician, she promises to learn to be good as a condition of her release. Unable to abide, Pinocchio flees into a well, and Geppetto, reawakening, is forced to reckon with the consequences of her actions.

Z Behl
Z Behl is a filmmaker and visual artist graduated from Wesleyan University, and a founding member of the filmmaking collective Court 13. She worked on Benh Zeitlin’s Beasts of the Southern Wild and acted in films by Ray Tintori, Kentucker Audley and Cary Fukunaga. Last fall she was named one of Filmmaker Magazine's 25 new faces of independent film.
