In search of a better life, Max and Leo, 8 and 5 years old, are taken from Mexico to Albuquerque (USA) by Lucia, their mother. While they wait for her to return from work, the children explore the unsafe neighborhood through their apartment window and listen to the stories, rules and English lessons that she leaves for them on an old cassette recorder. Building up an imaginary universe with their drawings, they long for their mother to fulfill the promise of taking them to Disneyland.

Samuel Kishi Leopo studied visual media at the university of Guadalajara. His works have participated in over 100 film festivals worldwide, including Berlinale, Clermont Ferrand and the Critic's Week in Cannes. His short film Mari Pepa won several awards at FICG, the FICM and an Ariel. His debut feature Somos Mari Pepa competed at the Generation 14Plus section of Berlinale and obtained 3 Ariel nominations. Los Lobos premiered at the Busan Film Festival and won both, the Generation KPlus jury award and the Cinema for Peace award at Berlinale.
