Di is a girl belonging to the Hmong community in the mountains of northern Vietnam. In her environment, there are conflicts between modernity (she belongs to the first generation to attend school) and traditional ways. On the Lunar New Year's eve, Di is kidnapped to be married off: a fate she shares with many other teenage girls.

Diem Ha Le

Ha Le Diem was born in 1991 in an ethnic minority group of Northeast Vietnam. She left her hometown to study journalism at the University of Social Sciences in Hanoi, from where she graduated in 2013. Children of the Mist, a study on the clash between modernity and the traditional ways, is her first feature documentary film project
