Inspired by Hannah Arendt's idea that bureaucracy is the worst form of violence, Everything Else explores the inner life of Doña Flor as she tries to emerge from invisibility.

She has been awarded scholarships such as MacArthur, USA Artist and Guggenheim. She is the great-granddaughter of Mexican president Plutarco Elías Calles, whom she portrays in her documentary El general (2009). All Water Has a Perfect Memory won Best Documentary Short Film at Tribeca. Four years later she directed the documentary Al otro lado and in 2008 she directed her first feature film: The 8.
