Kevin was born in a FARC camp but grew away for safety reasons in Marta’s house, his godmother. Escorted by Arturo, Marta’s husband, Kevin paid monthly visits to his mother in the guerrilla camp until his 6th birthday, when the AUC paramilitary group took hold of the region. The AUC murders Marta and destroys the town, forcing Kevin’s displacement to Bucaramanga to stay with Fabiola, Marta’s sister. There, Kevin refuses to accept his new conditions, leaves school, and plots to go back to his town; but Fabiola’s sudden illness will force him to choose between chasing ghosts or embracing his newfound family.
Beltrán Pérez is a Spanish-Venezuelan anthropologist and filmmaker. A founding member of MECHA, he has participated in projects that have been selected and awarded at Annecy, DocMontevideo, MiradasDoc, DokPro München, among others.
