"Archaeology" and "archive" share the same Greek root: Arkhé. That word refers to the origin, to what is dug up, what is hidden deep down, what is not revealed, what is not apparent. The ruins of the earthquake, like a film archive, are dug up. With the hands, with the soul, with a lump in the throat. Life on the fateful morning of September 19, 1985 fades from our memory. But the images remain. These are never-seen recordings of the earthquake that devastated Mexico City, compiled in the archeological adventure of an archivist who suffered watching them until he could see no more.
