Danzoneros is an artistic documentation supported by melodic rhythms of Cuban origin, which moves between captivating portraits, scenes with an old-fashioned flavor and brief interviews. An exuberant journey into the community of mature dance veterans who, for 40 years, have come together to celebrate the danzón in historic dance halls. Walking into a ballroom is like being on the edge of another world, away from the noise and stress of everyday life. Walking into a ballroom is like being on the edge of another world, away from the noise and stress of everyday life. The short film focuses not only on the particularities of the Danzón, but also on the glittering community that revolves around the last remaining historic dance halls in the city. Danzoneros explores the meaning of an unbridled passion for dance, whose roots go much deeper than just a hobby. For these characters, the dance floor is a parallel world in which they have chosen to enter and immerse themselves in order to escape, if only for a moment, from the problematic and violent reality of every day.
