Our Ark is an essay film on the authors' efforts to create a virtual replica of the real world. They are "backing up" the planet, creating 3D models of animals, rainforests, cities and people. They archive as if ecological collapse could be staved off through some digital Noah’s Ark of beasts and objects.
Tortum works has screened internationally: Venice FF, SxSW, IDFA, Sheffield and Dokufest; he was featured in Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film. Hamilton is an artist and self-taught microbiologist; her work has been reviewed by Artforum, The New York Times, The New Yorker, Performance Art Journal and Telerama.
